Creating an open floor plan from a 1940 s ranch home before after it seems like ages ago when we first walked through this simple 1947 rancher and started talking about how we could update it. It was a complete transformation that involved opening up all the rooms on the first floor to improve traffic patterns and bring more light into what was a dark 1970s era house. Swapping the sink and cooktop means dishwashing now comes with sunshine and a front yard view. A fabulous first floor remodel designer eric ross says this makeover involved more than just simply redecorating a kitchen.

Fast forward 6 months and we re still pretty amazed at how much it has changed. A small ranch style home gets a major open floor plan kitchen mudroom and dining room makeover. A new window cutout looking into an adjacent exterior facing space fills the room with additional natural light.
