I am supposed to close on a house this week and i have a question regarding the hardwood floors. I know that the problem is wax in the grain of the wood and i also know that even if i sand the whole floor again the same thing will.

Simply abrading the floor and applying a new top coat might not fix the problem. It doesn t seem to make sense. In the dining rooms and entry way there are rugs on the hardwood floors with no pads and apparently water must have been spilled in a couple of areas and has seeped through to the floor because the polyurethane is peeling off in long strips.

The product was a factory finished solid oak floor installed throughout the main floor of the home. Without resanding waxes oils and furniture polishes used to clean wood floors seep into the pores of the finish and can prevent the new finish from bonding. Repair hollow or raised spots in the floor using an engineered wood repair kit. This often leads to some head scratching trying to figure out how it happened.

Job and when i coated the floor oil base satin the finish started flaking off the floor from the grain i have had this problem one other time in the 4 years that i have been sanding floors. The homeowners deemed the product defective and insisted it be replaced. Hi we just had our engineered wood floor installed urban floor by a professional installer just only a month and a half ago. We are now experiencing the same problem of top finish peeling.
